** MOMENT BY MOMENT **
GOOD FEAR versus BAD FEAR …
2 TIMOTHY 1:7: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
All of us, even Christians, have experienced fear in our lifetime. As with all our emotions, God has given fear to us for a reason. There is good fear and there is bad fear. Good fear protects us and we should honor it. Bad fear, which is an emotion created within us, is not of God nor is it from God. Bad fear brings sorrow and loss. Bad fear can often be so intense that it becomes paralyzing; clouding our choices and decisions, often leaving us locked within ourselves, and unable to function in a normal manner in many areas of our lives. God often uses the unexpected to force us to stop and reexamine our lives. While this process is taking place; we are often unhappy or uncomfortable.
Have you ever struggled with a fearful situation, emotionally or physically, and tried to figure out scenarios of how to handle it or to fix it? I have many times; be it a relationship, a job, finances, health, or etc. I have learned one undeniable truth about these ‘musings’; nothing ever goes the way we think they will, and all we have to show for our struggle is a lot of wasted time and a lingering headache. That is why Jesus Himself tells us to “Leave the problems of tomorrow in God’s Hands.”
MATTHEW 6:34: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Heavenly Father, help us to cast our burdens and our fears at the Foot Of The Cross in Christ Jesus, and to know that YOU have control of all things if we will but trust in You with the needs and the insecurities we find in our daily walk. Holy Spirit, increase our sensitivity to Thy Presence within us, as Children Of God, and to be open to Thy Counsel and Thy Guidance and Thy Comfort no matter what comes against us. Lord Jesus, help us to really know that it is thru Thy Shed Blood and Resurrection that we are SAVED and HEALED and SET FREE! In Jesus’ Name, I ask for a Strong Spirit and a Sound Mind for my life and for the lives of all Thy Followers across our broken and unstable world. I praise Thee, O God, and I am so grateful to be able to come before Thy Throne to share my deep concerns and desires. You always answer the prayers of Thy Children; even if it isn’t always the answer we are hoping for, it will most certainly always be the answer that You know we need. AMEN
