** THOUGHT FOR MEMORIAL DAY **

    TEARS IN A BOTTLE …

PSALM 55:6&7: So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wander far off, and remain in the wilderness.”

PSALM 56:3,4,&8: Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? YOU NUMBER MY WANDERINGS; PUT MY TEARS INTO YOUR BOTTLE; ARE THEY NOT IN YOUR BOOK?

Number My Wanderings … David was constantly on the move; living in a state of constant uncertainty due to King Saul’s jealous rage and ongoing pursuit of attempting to kill him. Yet, David knew that God had ordained him to be the next King and he also knew that he could keep his faith and his concerns safe in the Hands Of Almighty God. David knew that God kept constant track of him throughout all the days of his life. WE, TOO, CAN REST ASSURED that God keeps constant track of us in all times and all things.

Put My Tears into Your Bottle … Commentator Adam Clarke noted, “Here is an allusion to a very ancient custom, which we know long obtained among the Greeks and Romans, of putting the tears which were shed for the death of any person into small phials, called lachrymatories or ulnae lachrymals and offering them on the tomb of the deceased. Some of these were of glass, some of pottery, some of agate, and some of sardonyx. A small one in my own collection is of hard baked clay.” In other words, this was another method people used in the past to remember; used in this Biblical text to remember grief’s. David is saying that God has kept track of all his sorrows and remembers them.

Just as God told Hezekiah: “Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: ‘I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.’” II Kings 20:5

How Can A Loving God Allow Such Pain? As a child, I was often confused over this same question. If God really loved us, WHY didn’t He stop the cause of so much suffering in our lives? At the loss of my husband, who was strong and healthy and only thirty-six years old, WHY did God allow his life to be taken from him in such a ruthless manner? At the loss of my fourteen year old daughter, whom I loved more than life itself, WHY did God allow the same merciless people to take her life and her from me at such a young age? There were a lot of “LOGICAL WHYS” in my life before I met Jesus and He became my daily source of strength and hope. Many people over the years have asked me these same questions … HOW can God love us and WHY does He allow such horrible things to happen; even to those who are living for Christ Jesus and sharing Him with others?

I now understand the answer to some of the WHY’S, but not all of them. I also am very grateful that God knew what lay ahead, even when I didn’t, and that He spared my life and the lives of many others; as well as protecting my young daughter from many possible times of suffering that would have been far too much for her to handle.

Often we wonder WHY does God immediately answer a prayer for us one time, but then doesn’t respond the same way the next time we ask. In time, we may understand the WHY’S, and again we may not. There is ONE CERTAINITY for all times, all things, and all seasons … GOD HAS A PLAN FOR EACH OF OUR LIVES, and HE KNOWS THE FUTURE and how to HANDLE IT FOR US if we will develop the FAITH IN HIM to just “LET GO & LET GOD”. Today, another Memorial Day, I am also thinking of those so dear that have gone on before me. YES, I would love to spend just one more day with each one of them if I could, but that isn’t God’s Plan for their lives or for mine. NO, even if I could call them back to this earth to be with me, I would not. I love them far too much to be that selfish. Instead, I am choosing to “focus on the memories stored in a secret place in my heart” and to be so thankful that I can know that they are being held safely in the Loving Arms of God until my journey here on earth is finished so that I can hear Jesus Himself call me HOME where we will never be parted again for eternity. An ETERNITY with JESUS CHRIST and our loved ones to never suffer loss, grief, fear, pain, rejection, or other hurtful emotions ever again!

I know that I am ready to ‘GO HOME’ when JESUS calls me; do you know that you are ready when HE calls you? My heart’s deepest prayer is, “If you can’t say ‘YES, I am ready’, that you will accept HIM as your LORD and SAVIOR this very day. Please do not wait for we do not know when our next breath could be out last breath upon this earth; OUR LAST CHANCE TO MAKE OUR CHOICE FOR JESUS.

It is only thru a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that you can know you are saved. It is only by having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that you will finally know the “Peace that passest all understanding” which Jesus promised to ALL of HIS FOLLOWERS.

JOHN 14:27: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

JESUS HIMSELF LOVED US SO MUCH THAT …
HE CHOSE TO DIE FOR US!

CAN WE NOT LOVE HIM ENOUGH THAT …
WE CHOOSE TO LIVE FOR HIM?

    JUST SAYNG …

    “FARTHER ALONG”
    (Brad Paisley)

Tempted and tried we’re oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long
While there are others living about us
Never molested though in the wrong

Farther along we’ll know all about it
    Farther along we’ll understand why
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it all by and by

When death has come and taken our loved ones
It leaves our home so lonely and drear
And then do we wonder why others prosper
Living so wicked year after year

When we see Jesus coming in glory
When he comes down from his home in the sky
Then we shall meet him in that bright mansion
We’ll understand it all by and by

Farther along we’ll know all about it
    Farther along we’ll understand why
Cheer up my sister live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it all by and by
Yeah we’ll understand it all by and by
